Dandruff
Small white flakes signal an old-fashioned case of dandruff. It can be annoying when the flakes fall on a dark shirt. Dandruff is simply an accumulation of shedding dead skin cells. Despite its name, ringworm has nothing to do with worms. It is an infection that round, scaly, red rash and patches of hair loss on the scalp leaving. Ringworm is most common in children between the ages of 3 and 7, but it can affect adults, too.
Psoriasis
This skin condition can appear anywhere, but often occurs on the scalp. It causes the body to make too many new skin cells. This can be a thick, crusted scales, which may itch or feel can form painful.
